Cheap Car Insurance For Young Women In Houston Texas

My daughter has been asking me for the longest time to finally let her have her own car. Well, I think that it is right about time for me to let her go and get her her own car. I just hope that it will not greatly affect my finances especially because these are hard times. Can you give me any advice on how to get cheap car insurance for young women in Texas?

Pete

Houston Texas

Pete, you have to know as early as now that car insurance for young drivers cost higher than the average car insurance policy. This is because young drivers are seen as high-risk drivers, and statistics that would support this exist. It would be bad for profit if a car insurance company gives your daughter insurance for a low price. For car insurance companies, giving a higher price for young drivers is a way of anticipating the claims that young drivers would be making. This is just logical.

So, does this mean that there is no hope for you to avail of cheap car insurance for young women?

The answer is no. Of course, cheap car insurance for young women in Texas could be available to you if you are smart. There are things you could do in order to lower the price that you will need to pay for your daughter’s car insurance. What are these?

Simple. It is all about appearances. You should give some form of assurance to the car insurance industry that your daughter will not be a nuisance on the road and that insuring her would not cost car insurance companies a lot.

So, how do you do this?

First, you should make sure that your daughter has a clean driving record. Frequent involvement in an accident, even though your daughter is not the one at fault, would automatically raise the price of your daughter’s car insurance. Another thing is that you may want to enroll your daughter in driving courses because this serves as a sign that you and your daughter are taking the whole matter of driving seriously. In any case, this would benefit you and your daughter greatly because she will have all the necessary driving skills and knowledge on traffic rules and regulations. This in turn would also make you at ease knowing that your daughter is safe on her own.

Another thing you could do is get your daughter an older vehicle model. Why? This is because in case your daughter does get herself involved in a vehicular accident, it would be less expensive to repair an older car. Also, installing lots of safety features would mean less medical expenses.

Discounts could also dramatically lower what you will have to pay for your daughter’s car insurance. Generally, students and female drivers are eligible to specific discounts. You might want to enjoy every discount available.

Just remember: Find a car insurance policy with a reasonable price. Then, try to do as much to lower its price by doing the tips that I have told you. This way, you are sure to have very cheap car insurance for young women.

Teen Car Insurance Policy Texas

Reader’s Question:

Is it possible for a 15 year old like me to get car insurance in Texas if I only have a learners permit?

John

Houston TX

Most young drivers may satisfy legal requirements in auto insurance in Texas by being added to their parents’ car insurance policy. It maybe very costly to add the young driver to their parent’s car insurance policy but it is much cheaper than getting a separate policy. You may want to speak with your parent’s current auto insurance company if you want to be added.

If you wish to get your own car insurance policy in Texas then it is possible if you only have the learners permit but as a minor you will be required to have your parent or legal guardian to have sign the legal documents with you. Some insurance companies though will not allow you to get your own policy unless you are fully licensed.

After the start of your insurance policy, most insurance carriers would want you to get full license in a specific amount of time. Insurance companies’ guidelines differ so I suggest that you speak with them to get more information.

Getting Teen Auto Insurance Policy

I am 15 years old and hold a learner’s permit. I’m thinking of getting teen auto insurance for myself instead of being added under my parent’s car insurance policy. I think I’m old and responsible enough to take care of my car insurance needs. Now what worries me is it possible for me to get car insurance even if I only have learner’s permit?

Olive

Houston, TX

Hello there Olive! It’s nice to know that there are teen drivers like you who at an early age are responsible enough to think about their own teen auto insurance. However, I’m afraid to say that it’s going to be difficult on your part.

In general, car insurance companies use driving record as one of the factors that they consider in setting auto insurance rate for drivers. This driving record can be obtained from your state department’s motor vehicle record. And without a driver’s license it would be difficult for auto insurance companies to get hold of a person’s driving record.

However, I heard from a cousin who knows something about teen auto insurance, that if you have learner’s permit, some car insurance companies will allow you to purchase car insurance for yourself and have the policy started given that in 30 day period that they will give you, you can get a full driver’s license. If you failed to do so, said car insurance policy will be cancelled.

In addition, from what I know, there are still some car insurance companies who give teen auto insurance for those who only have learner’s permit. But just to make sure, I would say it best that you contact a licensed auto insurance agent in Texas so you could get the best help in securing your own car insurance.

SR22 Automobile Insurance Houston Texas

I live in Houston Texas and I would like to know if I will need to obtain an SR22automobile insurance for tow tickets of driving uninsured?

Jenny

Houston TX

Jenny,

Normally if you have been convicted of driving uninsured in the state of Texas for a second time your license will be suspended. To have your license reinstated you will be required to get and carry a SR-22 automobile insurance for a period of two years after the conviction date.

In the state of Texas motorist in Texas are required that they are able to pay for any car accidents they cause.

The requirement of financial responsibility is established for the car through:

  • a motor vehicle liability insurance policy
  • a surety bond filed under Section 601.121;
  • a deposit under Section 601.122;
  • a deposit under Section 601.123; or
  • self-insurance under Section 601.124.

If the Texas Department of Public Safety told you that an SR-22 automobile insurance is required then you need to inform your car insurance carrier. An SR-22 automobile insurance is a certificate of insurance that show proof of insurance for the future to the Texas Department of Public Safety. SR22 automobile insurance is car liability insurance which requires the insurer to certify coverage to the state, and the insurance provider must inform DPS anytime the car insurance policy is cancelled or lapses.

Cost Of SR22 Insurance Houston Texas

How much does an SR22 form cost?

Kelly

Houston TX

Kelly,

Typically, insurers are allowed to charge this proof of financial responsibility certificate to the state. The cost of SR22 insurance form filing fee range from $15 to $25.

The cost of SR22 insurance form will be calculated depending on all the various factor that go into rating car insurance policy regardless of the SR-22 form filing.

Your driving history is one of the rating factor and the reason that you are mandated to get the SR-22,( to reinstate your drivers license due to suspension after a DWI DUI or ticket for driving without insurance,) may affect your car insurance rates but the cost of SR-22 insurance form itself does not beyond the filing fee.
