I have a DUI on my driving record and I am just curious as to how far back do insurance providers check my driving history? I just want to know if they will still see my DUI in my record. I live in Houston Texas.

All of your moving violation will show up on your driving record for a period of five years with the exceptions of serious violations such as DUI/DWI or driving without insurance which will stay on your record forever. This is according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

So the DUI will stay on Texas driving record forever the surcharge given to the motorist for this violation normally remain on your record for a period of three years. Sometimes an insurance provider look back at someone’s driving history for ten years. But the average look back years of the insurance company for the driving record is typically five years.

Additionally car insurance companies can add penalties or surcharges to your auto insurance premium for serious violations, such as a DUI, and accidents resulting in property damage of $1,000 or more.
